Bucketfull Of Brains #72
Anne Soldaat -  In Another Life    (Excelsior )

Anne Soldaat, former songwriter, lead guitarist, sometime vocalist and musical force behind Dutch masters, Daryll Ann has already dulled the terrible sadness left in the wake of DA’s demise with his first superb album under the Do The Undo banner. Last year armed just with his guitar and a pocketful of superb songs he flew over to Los Angeles to record his much anticipated follow up with none other than Jason Falkner, of Jellyfish, The Grays and amazing solo albums fame. A musical collaboration that pop dreams are made of to be sure, two legends working hand in hand and harmony to craft what surely has to be one of the albums of the year.

The songs are uniformly wonderful, the vocals heartfelt and the playing passionate and free. Falkner’s production and numerous musical contributions are empathic and majestic, Soldaat being one of the finest and most emotive guitar players of his generation weaves his usual magic on the frets. In short In Another Life is the album that finally mends the broken heart that the loss of Daryll Ann wrought in music lovers everywhere and it does it with such effortless grace and assured creativity that one can only smile with sheer pleasure from beginning to end. Anne and Jason are proud of this glorious album and well they should be.
