Anne Soldaat is vanaf februari 2011 als zanger/gitarist te zien in ZOUT, de nieuwe productie van Conny Janssen Danst. Voor ZOUT schrijft Soldaat een aantal nieuwe nummers en hij speelt en zingt live mee met de dansers. ZOUT gaat op 16 februari 2011 in première in de Rotterdamse Schouwburg en maakt tot en met 12 mei een tournee langs de Nederlandse theaters.

The music video for ‘Born To Perfom’ (feat. Wouter Bos, Youp van ‘t Hek, Nico Dijkshoorn, Tim Knol and many more) has been selected for the Dutch national Film Festival. Which means there are prizes to be won. Next to a jury prize, there’s a public’s prize, for which you can vote if you please.

What you have to do? Visit NOFF.nl, click on ‘Vote’, keep searching through the videos till you find ‘Born To Perform’, click on it, and then click on the green thumb underneath the video. That’s all. Thank you!

The Anne Soldaat tour is on it’s way and no-one can stop them now. Utrecht, Eindhoven, Nijmegen, Groningen, Leeuwarden, Amersfoort and Rotterdam have been played, more cities will follow the coming weeks.

It’s going incredibly well and some visitors filmed songs and put them on YouTube. Below you’ll find Pillow Talk and the single Going South, filmed by someone who calls him- or herself Anorak1968. Thanks for that.

Anne Soldaat: “Shake, rattle & roll”, zong Big Joe Turmer al in een van de eerste echte rock ‘n roll nummers uit het jaar 1954. Met een shaker is het altijd feest. De shaker is het ritmisch kloppende hart van vele nummers in onze live-set. Alleen we zijn maar met z’n vijven, hebben onze eigen instrumenten te bespelen en komen dus vaak – letterlijk – handen te kort.

We doen dus graag een beroep op iemand uit het publiek om 1 of 2 nummers met ons mee te shaken. Ik moet streng zijn: enig ritmegevoel is wel vereist. Leeftijd, huidskleur of geslacht zijn daarentegen niet belangrijk. Je helpt ons uit de brand en krijgt tegelijk een unieke kans om met de Anne Soldaat band op een podium te staan. “

Soldaat’s laatste album ‘In Another Life’, opgenomen in Amerika met behulp van Jason Faulkner (bekend van Beck, Air), werd unaniem lovend ontvangen door de vaderlandse muziekpers.

Afgelopen zomer gaf de Amsterdamse songwriter op Terschelling tijdens Oerol zowel acoustische als elektrische optredens. Die combinatie beviel zo goed dat er ook tijdens de huidige tour zowel acoustisch als versterkt gespeeld zal worden. In de maand november gaat de band maar liefst 15 keer spelen door het hele land, om daarna een flinke pauze in te lassen. Voor fans van melodieuze popmuziek dus voorlopig de laatste kans om Soldaat live aan het werk te zien in een bijzondere setting.

De band bestaat naast Soldaat uit leden van Johan, GEM en Coparck. Tickets voor de tour zijn verkrijgbaar bij de gebruikelijke voorverkoopadressen en de zalen.

ONDER INVLOED AMSTERDAM, FRIDAY

This Friday, October 9th, Anne will be playing the songs of his influences and his own at the Onder Invloed Live show at the Winston in Amsterdam. Earlier this year, he recorded a session for this project (see OnderInvloed.com) and he played the live show in Utrecht in June. This Friday he will play after the Scottish band The Starlets and DJ St. Paul will keep his tables turning for many hours after.

If you’re around, please come and join him at the Winston, at the Warmoesstraat in Amsterdam. Tickets are 7 euros. Doors open at 21.00h.

LIVE AT THE AMSTERDAM ZOO

Playing a show surrounded by not only people who’re listening, but a lot of animals too is kind of an unique experience. Anne Soldaat played at the Artis zoo in Amsterdam this weekend, with Matthijs van Duijvenbode playing not only his usual keyboards, but also all kinds of percussion, simultaneously; due to the absence of drummer Marcel van As, who’s on his well-deserved holiday.
